Slow and Easy Sunday

I stand in Your presence Lord, where I am on Holy ground. Your angels surround me with a hedge of protection. I feel so blessed to be in Your presence, Abba Father.

Thank You for this awesome feeling of joy and peace. May the peace of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit continue to be with me always.

1 Corinthians 15:58 – Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

Breaking every stronghold

As I do the things that need to be done Father, I know that, once done to Your glory, they will not be in vain. Through You and the working power of the Holy Spirit, I am assured that I can do all things.

I declare that every stronghold is broken. I believe that all things are possible when I call upon the glorious name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:10- For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Luke 1:19 – And the angel answered and said to him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you these glad tidings.

Standing in God’s Presence

Lord, in Your presence is where I belong. I declare that all things will continue to be done to Your glory. I love You, Almighty God. And so, I pray for protection over my life and the lives of others I interact with.

Thank you Jesus, that I can do those good works which God planned beforehand for me such that I can walk in them, living the good life which He prearranged for me to live.

Thank You Father God, for Your tremendous outpouring of blessings You continue to bestow upon me. These mercies I pray, in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ. So be it… Amen and Amen!

Revelation 3:20 – Behold, I stand at the door, and knock. If any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Verse of the Day

Inspirational illustration of Titus 2:2

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

Worthy of respect! What a goal for our lives whether we are men or women! Don’t you want your life to reflect the character of God because our faith expresses itself in a life of self-control and godliness? This work of the Spirit in our lives happens only as we dedicate ourselves to being what he is at work trying to accomplish in us.

My Prayer…

Father, please strengthen me through your Spirit so that I may gain better control of my passions, my speech, my example, and my habits. Help me put to death the things that would rob me of my spiritual passion and my influence for good to those who do not know Jesus. Make my faith stronger as I try to lovingly treat others and persevere in faith through difficult times. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

I’ve been in a place of transition for some time–those periods in life where something we may have loved doing is wilting but there aren’t any new sprouts in site yet indicating our new direction. I’ve been in this place many times in my life and although it can be very uncomfortable and filled with a sense of uncertainty, I’ve learned that I can’t force it so the best thing to do is to try and relax, trust and listen within as much as possible. I’ve tried to push things along in the past, thinking I needed to and COULD figure things out and the result was a lot of pain and frustration.
When we are being led in a new direction there’s no way we could know what that will look like or how to navigate it because it is entirely NEW. We are in the unknown where magical, beautiful things blossom–things we never imagined. In fact, I’ve learned that when I’m in this place, if I can imagine it, its probably not what it will be.
Western culture unfortunately doesn’t offer a lot of support for these life transitions. Ours is a culture where we generally believe we should know what we want, where we are going and how to get there at all times. And if we don’t, we believe that something has gone terribly wrong or worse, WE are terribly wrong.
Hmpf…I fluff my tutu to such nonsense and will be here doing my best to relax, trust and listen within for the next steps into the unknown where seeds of inspiration are planted, and stardust congeals into magical ideas never conceived of. xo

Near the Throne

Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders, clothed in white garments.
Revelation 4:4

These representatives of the saints in heaven are said to be “around the throne.” In the passage in Solomon’s Song where he sings of the King sitting at his table, some render it “a round table.” From this, some expositors—I think, without straining the text—have said, “There is an equality among the saints.” That idea is conveyed by the equal nearness of the twenty-four elders.

The condition of glorified spirits in heaven is that of nearness to Christ, clear vision of His glory, constant access to His court, and familiar fellowship with His person. There is no difference in this respect between one saint and another, but all the people of God—apostles, martyrs, ministers, or private and obscure Christians—will all be seatednear the throne, where they shall have a perfect view of their exalted Lord and be satisfied with His love. They will all be near Christ, all satisfied with His love, all eating and drinking at the same table with Him, all equally loved as His favorites and friends even if not all equally rewarded as His servants.

Believers on earth should imitate the saints in heaven in their nearness to Christ. We should be like the elders in heaven, sitting around the throne. Christ should be the object of our thoughts and the center of our lives. How can we endure to live at such a distance from Him? Lord Jesus, draw us nearer to Yourself. Say to us, “Abide in Me, and I in you”; and let us sing, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”

O lift me higher, nearer Thee,
And as I rise more pure and fit,
O let my soul’s humility
Make me lie lower at Thy feet;
Less trusting self, the more I prove
The blessed comfort of Thy love.

Loving God

“He [Jesus] who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens” … I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it. —Revelation 3:7-8, NKJV

Jesus quoted this prophecy and applied it to His church. Jesus has the authority of David, and He will release it to His servants in the church. This is a promise for people after God’s own heart. When we seek Him and His power in obedience and intimacy, Jesus releases the authority to open and shut doors in the Spirit. This is how He interacts with you and me. Jesus prophesied that His disciples would experience an open heaven, speaking of opening a doorway of blessing in the Spirit. Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man” (John 1:51, NKJV). We are invited to live under that open heaven! When God finds a corporate people wholeheartedly pursuing Him with the heart of David, He will open and shut doors in the spirit and in the natural. Doors of darkness will be shut in the spirit, and evil things in the natural will dry up. Positive doors of light and righteousness will be opened in the spirit, and righteous things in the natural will flourish.

I thank You, Father, for the miraculous privilege of living under Your open heaven. Open the doors You desire to be opened in my city and nation, Lord, and flood us with Your light. Shut the doors that allow Satan and his darkness to creep in and deceive Your people.

We are to be a people of power, opening and
shutting doors according to the will
and power of the Lord.

By Love Transformed

Living Worship

For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. —Philippians 3:3, KJV

What we long for is living worship. But how does this come about? Worship that is “by the Spirit of God” has three stages.

First, the initiation of the Spirit. Worship that is initiated by the Spirit is always of the Spirit, by the Spirit, and in the Spirit. Of the Spirit refers to those who have been brought to the new birth; by the Spirit describes what these reborn people are able to do—they serve God under the impulse of the Spirit.

This leads me to my second point: the impulse of the Spirit. In true worship the people of the Spirit are enabled by the Spirit to participate in the worship that God feels for Himself. For God loves Himself—and if we don’t like that fact, it is because a God of glory is offensive to our fleshly human nature. God does everything for His own glory and “worketh all things after the counsel of his own will” (Eph. 1:11, KJV). And everything in all creation was designed for the worship of God.

Third, the inheritance of the Spirit is when the Holy Spirit is utterly Himself in us. When someone comes into our house we say, “Do make yourself at home.” If you really want the Spirit to be at home in you—to be Himself in you—you must open your heart directly to Him and say, “Lord, I do love You, and I will do what You say.” Complete obedience to the Spirit at home within us is the key to true worship.

Daily Breakthrough

He Has Gone Before You

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. —Psalm 23:4

Are you walking through a valley? As you walk, Jesus is walking alongside you, ready to pick you up if you should stumble. He is holding your hand and talking with the Father about your situation.

He is constantly presenting you to the Father. This is His only purpose in heaven. He calls your name before the throne, and He points to the mercy seat covered by His precious blood.

Today is no surprise to God. Tomorrow’s headlines will not surprise Him either! He knows tomorrow better than you know yesterday. He has gone before you and prepared the way. You never walk alone. He is Jehovah- Jireh, the God who provides your need before you have a need.

If He is leading and you are following, you have nothing to fear. In fact, tomorrow in Christ is filled with possibilities, hope, and new beginnings.

Thank You, Jesus, for going ahead of me and securing
my tomorrows. So today, I will rest in You—setting
aside every fear, anxiety, and worry. Amen.

High Positions
TGIF Today God Is First Volume 2 by Os Hillman

“The brother in humble circumstances ought to take pride in his high position” (James 1:9).

Whenever God takes a saint to a very lowly state it is designed to accomplish something only that process can do. Job learned that “He reveals the deep things of darkness and brings deep shadows into the light” (Job 12:22). Job’s trials allowed him to learn things about God, himself and his friends that we all needed to know as well. He assumed things about God that he had to recant: “Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know” (Job 42:3).

God reveals things in the dark places of circumstances that will be used to reveal something He wants you and others to know. He has sent you ahead to learn these things so that you and others will benefit from your unique experience. God views this place where you receive these truths as a high position. The world views it as a place to be despised.

“He called down a famine on the land and destroyed all their supplies of food; and he sent a man before them – Joseph, sold as a slave. They bruised his feet with shackles, his neck was put in irons, till what he foretold came to pass, till the word of the Lord proved him true” (Psalms 105:16-19). Joseph was also led to this high position. It was here he was prepared to be the most powerful man in the world as a thirty-year old. He learned many things about God during his captivity that was used later as a ruler over a nation.

So, if you find yourself in a lowly state, realize your lowly state is considered a high position by God that is preparation soil for revealing deep things from the dark places that God desires you to learn.

The Way of God
TGIF Today God Is First Volume 1 by Os Hillman

“If My people would but listen to Me…. Psalm 81:13

God has a specific training ground for leaders. There are three patterns of preparation that have been common among most of God’s leaders. First, there is a time when the leader is separated from his old life. Consider Moses, Joseph, Abraham, and Paul. In order for God to mold and shape them into His nature, it appears that He had to remove them from the life of comfort. A teacher once said, “You cannot go with God and remain where you are.”

Next, there is usually a time of solitude. God often brings leaders into a time of solitude in order to speak to them without other distractions. Hosea 2:14b says, “I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her.” Paul was sent to Arabia for two years for a time of solitude. Joseph spent years in the solitude of prison. Moses spent 40 years in the desert herding sheep.

The third characteristic of God’s preparation for leaders is discomfort. The setting in which the preparation takes place usually is not a place of comfort. Abraham traveled through the difficult deserts. David lived in caves fleeing Saul. Paul was frequently persecuted.

Are you ready for the classroom of leadership preparation? If God chooses to bring you into this class, you may have one of three reactions to the events. First, you may say, “I don’t need it.” Perhaps you know intellectually that you do need this, but God wants you to know it in your heart. Pride prevents us from entering this classroom. The second reaction may be, “I’m tired of it.” You decide you’ve had enough. If so, this will disqualify you from leadership. Finally, God’s desired response from us in this preparation is, “I accept it.” To accept it with joy is the place of maturity in Christ. God often keeps us in these places until we come to accept and agree that Jesus is enough. Is He all you need?

Like the people of Israel, I think we have something to do with the timetable of our education. “If My people would but listen to Me, if Israel would follow My ways, how quickly would I subdue their enemies and turn My hand against their foes!” (Ps. 81:13-14)

Are you ready for the process required for being a godly leader? Ask for His grace to willingly embrace these times of preparation.

Listening to the Father’s Heart – September 9
by Os Hillman

Son, it saddens me that many think of me more as a judge than a loving Father. In reality, it is the enemy who accuses my sons and daughters when they fail. As for me, my forgiveness is instant when forgiveness is requested. There is total restoration, no matter how many failures (1 Jn 1:9). Son, I am merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin (Exodus 34:6-7). There can be no true love without righteousness and judgment, but my grace always covers transgression. I never turn away a humble heart. Please help others to know this about me.

So rend your heart, and not your garments; return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness; and He relents from doing harm. Joel 2:13

Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.” Revelation 12:10

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. James 4:10

Each year on the second Sunday in September, people come together in observing National Pet Memorial Day. On this day, pet owners honor their pets, both past and present, and think about and share with others the important role their beloved pets have played in their lives.

Keep both past and present pets in your mind. One popular tradition on this National Day is to plant a tree or a shrub as a living memorial. Use #NationalPetMemorialDay to post on social media.

Pet Memorial Day was established by the International Association of Pet Cemeteries and Crematories.
